Fulham Reach Residential Apartment Blocks

The Fulham Reach building project is an extremely large development demanding a multi phased construction program. Each of the apartment blocks has its own dedicated smoke control system. Due to high temperature pipework passing through the common corridor ceiling void, a means of ventilating those corridors and reducing the air temperature within them was necessary. A creative approach was adopted to use the normally closed smoke ventilation system to provide cooling fresh air to those areas. The use of the smoke control fans for this “day to day” ventilation scheme gave the added benefit to the smoke extract fans in that they were less likely to suffer brinelling of the motor shafts and therefore had improved reliability for functioning in an emergency.
